| TRANSFORMATION FROM CAREGIVER TO “COMMUNITY” KITCHEN | | | | | |  | |

| United Cerebral Palsy contacted Exceptional Designs, Inc. to propose how to remodel their kitchen. A plan was created to transform a small kitchen into a modern, spacious and more user friendly environment. The design scheme opened up the space into a much larger kitchen with a small divider section for preparation on one side and cooking on the other side. As a result of removing part of the old wall, there is a large open area for wheelchairs to navigate. | | |

 By removing the pantry wall, a new additional kitchen area was created with a pass through which now has a lower cabinet/counter with a cook top and single sink. | | |

| The ultimate result is a much larger kitchen with a roomy pass through area permitting wheelchair navigation. The residents can now participate in the food preparation which pleases them very much. Previously, the kitchen was too small for “community” involvement. During the construction process, the residents were so happy with the changes that they thanked us all the time. The outcome is that the residents' morale is high and the quality of their lives is enhanced. | | |
